《新青年》的创刊,既是中国文化转型发展的新标志,也是中国文学现代发展的新起点,是促成民国文学新潮兴起的一个重要因素,开启了中国文学现代转型的历史航程。五四新文化将文学作为传播“新文化、新思想、新道德”的重要载体和途径,使之充当了文化转型的历史先锋。《新青年》主张废弃文言文,倡导白话文,不仅仅是单纯地着眼于语言置换的问题,而是谋求建立一整套与时代发展相一致的新的文学表意系统和话语方式,借以完成晚清以来“我手写我口”的夙愿,谱写中国文学现代发展的历史新篇章。
The publication of “New Youth” is not only a new symbol of the development of Chinese cultural transformation, but also a new starting point for the modern development of Chinese literature. It is also an important factor that has contributed to the rise of literature in the Republic of China and opened the historical voyage of the modern transformation of Chinese literature. The May Fourth New Culture used literature as an important carrier and means of disseminating “new culture, new ideas and new morals”, making it a vanguard in the history of cultural transformation. The “new youth” advocated discarding classical Chinese and advocating vernacular instead of simply focusing on the problem of language replacement. Instead, it sought to establish a new literary system and discourse that was in keeping with the development of the times, “I hand written my mouth,” the wish to write a new chapter in the history of modern Chinese literature.
