Objective To investigate the clinical significance of sex hormone changes in male and female patients with primary urolithiasis. Methods Serum testosterone, estradiol (E2), prolactin (PRL), luteinizing hormone (PRL) and prolactin (PRL) were measured in 52 males and 21 females with primary upper urinary tract calculi and in control group. Produce hormones (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels. Results The levels of Testo, PRL and LH in male calculi group were significantly higher than those in male control group (P <0.05), while those in E_2 group were significantly lower than those in male control group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in FSH level between the two groups Control group (P <0.05), the other four indicators showed no significant difference. Conclusions Sex hormones have some influence on the patients with primary upper urinary tract calculi, but the effect on female primary urolithiasis is not obvious.
