Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is an important progress in the treatment of kidney stones, which has attracted the attention of scholars at home and abroad. The author, who started the research in 1982 and achieved the result in early 1983, effectively smashed isolated kidney stones with a homemade shock wave generator. The impact of the shock wave on the organism was subsequently completed and it was pointed out that destruction of the surrounding tissue was not caused by crushing stones. After the completion of the experimental prototype in September 1984, under the guidance of X-ray image intensifier-TV positioning system, the shock wave focused bombardment experiment was performed on the artificially induced kidney stone model dog in order to make the transition to clinical application. As a result, the stone was crushed.
