本文借用话轮转换系统理论的分析方法,以《荷兰人》中的对话片段为研究对象,探讨如何从话轮转换的角度理解戏剧中人物的性格刻画和人物关系。分析表明,话轮转换系统可以反映人物的性格特征和人物之间的权势关系。露拉和克雷的对话中,话轮分析反映了露拉的粗鲁无知和咄咄逼人的态度,以及与其形成鲜明对比的克雷的良好教养和忍让软弱的性格;同时,也反映了在二者的关系中,露拉占据主导进攻的地位,而克雷则处于被动防守的地位。这部戏剧更反映了白人对于黑人的与生俱来的优越感和对黑人的根深蒂固的种族歧视,以及黑人渴望融入白人社会的愿望与其在美国社会的受歧视的悲惨处境。
Based on the analysis of the theory of turn-taking system, this dissertation takes the dialogues of the Dutch as the research object and explores how to understand the characterization and the relationship of the characters in the drama from the perspective of turn-taking. The analysis shows that the turn-taking system can reflect the personality characteristics and the power relations between characters. In the dialogue between Lula and Clay, the turn-based analysis reflected Lula’s rude ignorance and aggressive attitude, as well as its sharp contrast with Clay’s reeducation and toleration of weak personality; at the same time, In the relationship, Lula occupied the dominant offensive position, and Clay is in a passive defensive position. The play also reflects the innate superiority of white people to blacks and their deep-rooted racial discrimination as well as the desire of Negro people to integrate into white society and their disastrous situation of discrimination in American society.
