For marine engineering and activities at sea, it is very important that we correctly grasp the distribution rules of the waves and determine the wave excursions of many years and years in a reasonable sea area. There are currently four types of data that can be used to extrapolate wave extremities: (1) data on shoreside ocean stations; (2) observations of islands, platforms and buoys; (3) data on post-wave projections derived from historical weather charts; (4) Wave records in ship weather reports. There have been many discussions in the past because of the method of using the first three kinds of data to calculate the annual wave extremes in many years. Therefore, this paper only discusses the method of estimating long-wave extrema using wave records in ship weather reports.
