At Cornell University, a hydroponic greenhouse project will boost greenhouse vegetable harvests in New York during the deep winter. In a controlled environment, they cultivated a single crop of hydroponic lettuce in 35 days and the production is expected to reach 390 tons per mu per year. This produces far more than the annual three-season crop (45 tons / acre) on California land. The Cornell project’s core is the Greenhouse’s computerized lighting control system.
