Richard Jeffreys (1848-1887) is a British naturalist, novelist and essayist. His rich natural knowledge and the poetical depiction of nature in his works made him a pioneer advocated by the naturalists. In his essay “The Lives of the Fields” (1884), writers vividly present England’s natural beauty, pristine habitat and Victorian rural life.
