在复杂的历史文献中,对于同一历史事件的记载和表述是不一样的,由官方文书、档案和民间记述组成的“话语系统”共同描绘了历史事件的本来面貌。从今天现存的史料中解读1897年发生在山东境内的巨野教案,并将史料置于特定的历史环境之下,就会发现不同的史料背后代表了不同阶级、不同集团对于同一事件的不同叙述;民间、清政府、外国教会对巨野教案的不同叙述代表了其各自的立场和观点,以及不同集团的权力和利益诉求,都是为各自的政治利益服务的,历史的复杂性要求而且必须从不同角度进行展现。
