Bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis in the event of treatment is indeed difficult. The ideal solution should be to restore adequate airway, maintain normal voice and maintain vocal cord protection. The concept of functional electrical stimulation is expected to restore the above functions. Recently, Obert et al reported that electrical stimulation of the posterior scaphic muscle caused sustained, isolated abduction of the vocal cords. Bergmann also reported using a radiofrequency transducer coupled with a transducer that is strapped to the chest and activated by dilation of the chest wall to stimulate the posterior scaphoid muscle. In the first study, the authors of this study demonstrated that physiologic synchronization of vocal cord abduction and respiration is truly feasible. The authors tested with 5 hybrid dogs. Under general anesthesia for neck incision, exposed recurrent laryngeal nerve, with short-term electrical stimulation confirmed. Then, each nerve resection for a length of 1.0cm, ligation of proximal and distal
