以探讨嵇康哲学本体论为轴心,考察“声无哀乐论”为主干,把自然美、人格美和艺术美统一起来,勾画其美学体系的《嵇康美学》,是迄今研究这一问题的最有分量之作。嵇康为人自有“宗长归仁”“直道而行”“刚肠疾恶,轻肆直言”和“师老庄”“任自然”“遗忘好恶”,以及“慎微如著”二十年“未尝见其喜愠之色”的言论与行为。后人对其认识亦有“本心”宝贝礼教和“终归于道家”的歧异,以致有“思想浮杂难求其统系”的慨叹。《嵇康美学》的出现,当会促进学界对嵇康之谜的进一步求解
