按照《国家科学技术奖励条例》,自1999年起国务院设立国家科学技术奖,作为中国科学技术的国家级奖项,共5种如下：(1)国家最高科学技术奖：每年授予人数不超过2名,获奖者必须在当代科学技术前沿取得重大突破或者在科学技术发展中有卓越建树；在科学技术创新、科学技术成果转化和高技术产业化中,创造巨大经济效益或者社会效益。奖金额为500万元人民币。
In accordance with the “Regulations of the State Science and Technology Awards”, since 1999, the State Council has set up a national science and technology award as a national award for science and technology in China. There are five kinds of awards as follows: (1) The highest national science and technology award: no more than 2 awards per year , The winners must make major breakthroughs in the frontiers of contemporary science and technology or make outstanding achievements in the development of science and technology; and create enormous economic or social benefits in scientific and technological innovation, transformation of scientific and technological achievements and high-tech industrialization. The prize amount is 5 million yuan.
