In recent years, the Soviet Union Railway has found that the fuel consumption rate for traction trains has increased, but the traction performance of diesel locomotives has decreased. One of the basic reasons for this is the deterioration of the thermal performance of diesel engines. In order to assess the impact of several major factors on the thermal status of diesel locomotives, a detailed thermal test of 10Д100 diesel engine on a 2T E10B diesel locomotive was carried out on the circular test line of the Research Institute of Railway Transport Science in the State. This locomotive has been running 404600 kilometers after leaving the factory. The planned TO-3 technical maintenance and TP-1 daily repairs were carried out during the operation, and the diesel engine did not disintegrate.
