Results: None of the 572 women had any abnormal menstruation before placing the IUD. 200 cases of menstrual abnormalities occurred after they placed the IUD. The incidence of menstrual abnormalities was 35%. The 200 cases of menstrual abnormalities in women whose main symptoms are increased menstrual flow, early menstrual cycle and menstrual prolongation. We have systematic care of these 200 women who have had abnormal menstruation. At the end of care, 196 of the 200 women lost their menstrual symptoms and their satisfaction with nursing services was as high as 98%. After the 200 women were discharged, we conducted a 12-month follow-up and found that only 5 of them had removed the intrauterine device because of discomfort. Conclusion: Abnormal menstruation is a common complication of female intrauterine devices. Such women may have increased menstrual flow, menstrual cycle and other symptoms in advance. The systematic nursing of such women can effectively alleviate the symptoms of menstrual abnormalities and reduce their chances of interrupting the use of intrauterine devices and improve their satisfaction with nursing services.
