当前,已知可用来杀虫的微生物种类很多,包括细菌、真菌、病毒、原生动物、线虫等。我国目前杀虫微生物的研究和应用是以细菌和真菌(白僵菌)为主。在细菌方面,各地应用的有杀螟杆菌、青虫菌、松毛虫杆菌及苏云金杆菌等。这些细菌的共同特点是,菌体在形成芽孢的同时,产生一个菱形或近正方形结晶体,叫伴孢晶体,这是一种对鳞翅目害虫有强烈毒杀作用的蛋白质毒素。当这些细菌的芽孢和晶体被昆虫吞食后,伴孢晶体首先引起害虫肠道
