本组选择我国发病率较高的胃癌、大肠癌作为研究对象，其一是消化系肿瘤对化疗药物敏感性较差；其二是胃、肠癌术后复发、转移率和死亡率较高。采用中医药提高机体对化疗药物的敏感性，阻断肿瘤的复发和转移是提高中晚期肿瘤临床疗效的关键。扶正防癌口服液是以中医理论为指导，临床经验钩基础，从整体出发，设计了针对此疗中易出现骨髓抑制、消化道反应等气血两伤的症候以及肿瘤复发和转移的特征而拟方，临床及实验结果都显示出该口服液是一种较理想的，具有双向调控作用的新药，长期服用安全无毒。
