英国国防部最近提出了新时期防御战略,其重点在于对付各种常规威胁。1994～1995财年英国将削减15.7亿美元的军费预算,迫使国防部推出这一新的防御战略。新的防御战略认为:对英国来说,来自外部的威胁在减少,但是外部世界出现的对英国利益产生威胁和英国对此要承担义务的情况在增加,因此英国的军事结构和能力应与此相适应。
The British Ministry of Defense recently proposed a defensive strategy for the new period, focusing on various conventional threats. Britain will cut its military spending by 1.57 billion U.S. dollars from 1994 to 1995, forcing the Department of Defense to launch this new defense strategy. The new defensive strategy holds that for the United Kingdom, the threat from the outside is decreasing, but the external world is threatening the interests of Britain and the United Kingdom is assuming increased obligations. Therefore, the military structure and ability of the United Kingdom should be related to this Adapt.
