当今美国家庭的“三大件”是汽车、住房(别墅)和多媒体电脑,其中排在首位的就是汽车.今天的美国人,不论住在城市或农村,没有小汽车几乎寸步难行.也就是说,私人汽车已成为美国人工作和生活的必需品而不是奢侈品.1994年美国注册登记的汽车有1.8亿多辆,在美国2.4亿人口中,平均每四个人就有三辆汽车.有的家庭甚至拥有二辆或三辆汽车.当然最多的是小汽车,而公共汽车和大巴士不到3000万辆,还有2000万辆货运卡车、冷藏车、救护车、消防车及其它各种汽车.
Today’s Americans, living in cities or in rural areas, have no car, which is almost impossible, that is, the “big three” of today’s American families are cars, homes (villas) and multimedia computers, Private cars have become a necessity rather than a luxury for Americans to work and live, with more than 180 million cars registered in the United States in 1994 and an average of four cars in the 240 million U.S. citizens, some even owning Two or three cars, of course, the largest number of cars, less than 30 million buses and buses, 20 million freight trucks, refrigerated trucks, ambulances, fire engines and other vehicles.
