含剧毒成分的中药性味猛烈,用之得当,立起沉疴;如果掌握有误,即将危害病人健康,甚至造成死亡事故。我国古代本草典籍对含毒剧成分的药物已有所记载,如《神农本草经》将125种中药列为下品,认为这些品种“多毒不可久服”。当时虽然对于“毒”的定义还不够明确,但已开始重视药物的毒性问题。唐代李勣等撰《新修本草》, The Chinese medicine containing highly toxic ingredients has a violent odor, which is used properly and stands up; if it is misunderstood, it will endanger the health of the patient and even cause fatal accidents.
