Both Hogarth and Hall of the Birmingham School are representatives of British cultural studies. Domestic scholars tend to emphasize their commonalities while commenting on them, while ignoring their differences and differences. Hogat, who held a nostalgic attitude toward the organic culture of the working class in his early days, rejected and criticized the popular culture and young subcultures. Although he surpassed the elitist culture of Arnold and Leavis, Also stop before the “cultural - civilized” traditional threshold. However, Hall noticed the important role played by the mass media in youth, recognized the complexity of mass culture and youth culture, and repeatedly questioned Hogg’s cultural nostalgia position. It is helpful for us to understand the theoretical development and evolution of British cultural studies and to make more accurate use of the methods and theories of cultural studies by focusing on and analyzing the disagreements between Hoggart and Hall’s early cultural ideas.
