Foreword Under the guidance of Chairman Mao’s revolutionary route, the spirit of “independence, self-reliance and self-reliance” was promoted. The design team jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce Design Institute and the Department of Construction Engineering of Tsinghua University entered the site in September 1973. The groundwater sealed rock cave oil depot has the advantages of low investment, low construction cost, high speed, three materials savings, less land occupation, favorable combat readiness, etc. The construction of this kind of oil depot has created a road to more rapid development for China’s oil depot construction. This is the total analysis of the stress of surrounding rock using the finite element method for the groundwater seal rock cavern (hereinafter referred to as the cavern).
