社会科学,顾名思义是研究社会现象的科学,由此人们很自然联想到那些抽象的理论,那些靠精密仪器无法判断的现象。然而一切都在变化、发展。如今以没有生命的仪器来分析活生生的社会现象已成为可能。在这方面,美国华盛顿大学心理系主任约翰·戈特曼教授堪称先驱之一。对于当今最常见的一种社会现象——离婚,戈特曼在罗伯特·利文森和克利福德·诺塔里奥斯等专家的协助下,创立了一个旨在通过科学手段剖析夫妇婚姻稳固与否的全封闭的特殊空间,并取名为“幸福实验室”。二寸多年来,他们通过“幸福实验室”对各个社会阶层夫妇的婚姻状况进行研究,依靠那些没有生命的仪器——摄像机、录放机、电子测脉仪等硬件获得一系列数据,尔后用电脑加以处理、分析并得出结论。据悉,预测淮确率逾90％。
