压气机蝸壳分为两种型式,一种是变截面的“蝸牛壳”型,一种是等截面的“元筒”型。为了实现涡轮增压器的小型化,目前,在小型涡轮增压器上采用“蜗牛壳”的比例越来越大。因为二者相比较,“蜗牛壳”具有容积小的特点。由于“元筒”型压气机蜗壳通道容积较大,通道内的气流速度较低,不考虑通道内的气体摩擦损失和气体扩压还是允许的。容积小,通道内气流速度较高的“蜗牛壳”则不然,如不考虑上述两项就不可能设计出一个尺寸较小、效率较高、流量适用范围广的压气机蜗壳。
