曾经在网络上看到这样一件事:“一个中国小朋友和几个美国小朋友同在一个活动中心玩耍,一位美国小朋友内急,出于礼貌,他在向这位中国小朋友询问厕所在哪里时,没有使用WC,toilet,lavatory这类词汇,而是说May I go some where?中国小朋友照字面意思理解,以为这位美国小朋友想去别的地方玩,便回答说Of course,you can go anywhere.(在哪里都可以)。”做出这样的回答,其尴尬场面可想而知了。我想作为英语教师的我不应该当作笑话笑笑就算了,这位中国朋友的回答并没有犯语法错误,那原因何在呢?这个事情从一定程度上说明了我们英语教学的一些漏洞——培养用英语思维的习惯。
Once upon a network saw such a thing: “One Chinese child and several American children playing in an activity center, an American child urgent, out of courtesy, he was asking the Chinese child where the toilet , Did not use such words as WC, toilet and lavatory, but said that I go somewhere? Chinese children understood it literally, thinking that the American kid wanted to go somewhere else and would say, Of course, you can go anywhere (Where you can). ”Make such an answer, its awkward scene can be imagined. I think as an English teacher, I should not laugh as a joke even though, the Chinese friend’s answer did not make grammatical mistakes, then why not? This thing to some extent illustrates some of our loopholes in English teaching - Develop the habit of thinking in English.
