The broadband capability of a gyrator with a dielectric center rod was investigated. The dispersion relation under TE mode perturbation was obtained, and the system bandwidth with the best bandwidth for the small axial velocity distribution was also obtained. It was found that the media center rod can expand the frequency range of medium wavelength mode (1WM) and reduce the unfavorable short wavelength mode (SWM). The center rod geometry is superior to the wall-cladding dielectric jib due to the bandwidth and gain produced by the mid-wavelength mode. The center-rod structure can have a larger wall size and a lower dielectric constant than a helically-wound convoluted tube with a dielectric material as a center rod.
