First fully demonstrate the irregular dynamic characteristics of sea clutter. It is based on the results obtained from a series of extensive and detailed experiments done with different sea clutter data sets. The study includes correlation dimension analysis (based on the maximum likelihood principle) and Lyapunov spectral analysis. The Lyapunov (Kaplan-Yrke) dimension is a by-product of Lyapunov spectrum analysis and has been found to be a good estimator of the correlation (fractional) dimension.
