自2009年1月1日起,加拿大的部分药师经卫生部门批准获得处方权,可以为某些慢性病患者续写处方。对于某些常规治疗药物,如抗高血压药或者抗糖尿病药,患者接受药物治疗至少6个月以上并且病情稳定,需要继续服用相同的药品时,可以直接由药师开写处方取药,不需要再一次约医生看病开处方了,大大方便了患者。
