荣成市是全国重点渔业(县)市,拥有渔业生产单位400多个,渔船7541艘、48．43万kW,渔业人口14．5万人,年用燃油53万多吨。捕捞业是荣成渔业的支柱产业,以捕捞为基础的产业链年收入在200亿元以上。由于燃油价格上涨对捕捞业的冲击,水产加工、冷藏、渔港码头、修造船厂、塑料绳网厂等行业也产生了负面效应。
