在目前推出的各种新型号的高档笔记本电脑当中,IEEE1394(火线)接口标准俨然成为了一种普遍认同的标准。比如,NEC 公司推出的 Versa RXi、东芝公司推出的 Satellite 2800、伦飞公司推出的 efio!2300、方正公司推出的 T5300等笔记本电脑都配备了 IEEE1394接口。与目前在桌面 PC 和笔记本电脑中得到广泛使用的传输标准的 USB 1.1相比,IEEE1394标准的最大优势就是传输速率快,可以提供高达400Mbps 的传输速率。USB 1.1的传输速率最高只有12.5Mbps,只有 IEEE1394的1/32。一个形象的例子:10MB 的数据用 USB 接口传输需要几分钟,而采用 IEEE 1394接口仅需几秒钟。不过,支持 IEEE1394接口的芯片的单价比较贵,因此IEEE1394诞生后并没有在 PC 工业中间得到广泛使用。但传输速率高、支持即插即用的特点使得 IEEE1394标
Among the various new models of high-end notebooks currently in production, the IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface standard has become a widely accepted standard. For example, NEC’s Versa RXi, Toshiba’s Satellite 2800, the Pentium’s efio! 2300, and the Founder’s notebook T5300 are equipped with IEEE1394 interfaces. The biggest advantage of the IEEE1394 standard over the standard USB 1.1, which is now widely used in desktop PCs and laptops, is its high transfer rate, which provides up to 400 Mbps transfer rates.
