OBJECTIVE: To investigate the difference of the number of white blood cells in rats after acute exhaustive exercise. Methods: Twenty-four healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: quiet control group, low-intensity exhaustion group and high-intensity exhaustion group. Blood samples were collected 24 h after exhaustive exercise. SymexF-820 semi-automatic hematology analyzer was used to detect leukocyte number. Results: The WBC, Lymph, Gran and Mid in acute exhaustive exercise group were significantly lower than those in the quiet control group (P <0.05). High intensity Acute exhaustion exercise group than low intensity acute exhaustion exercise group was significantly lower (P <0.05). Conclusions: 1) Acute exhaustive exercise led to the decrease of white blood cell count, lymphocyte count, neutrophil count and intermediate cell number, which affected the immune function of the body. Immune function could not recover to a resting level 24 h after exhaustive exercise. 2) exhausted exercise intensity of the body’s white blood cell number differences, the higher the intensity the greater the impact.
