Objective To understand the contents of blood cadmium and lead in blood donors who are exposed to toxic heavy metals such as cadmium and lead in Longgang district and provide basis for the intervention. Methods Blood samples of unpaid blood donors from migrant workers in this area were selected from 2006 to 2007, and blood lead and blood cadmium levels were measured by atomic absorption spectrometry and analyzed. Results The over-standard rate of blood samples from lead-exposed donors was higher than that of non-contact ones, and the over-standard rates were 3.85% and 1.47% respectively. The over-standard rates of blood samples from cadmium-exposed donors were higher than those from non-contact donors, . Conclusion The blood of unpaid blood donors who are exposed to lead and cadmium affects the quality of blood supply. Intervention should be taken.
