One of the main constraints to the development of civilian helicopter industry is its high cost of flight. Compared with fixed-wing turboprop aircraft, helicopters per mile cost of flight is generally 10 times higher. Helicopters have a high initial investment and require more frequent maintenance and more spare parts to secure their use, as well as higher premiums. In addition, the suspension of maintenance resulting in a reduction of its revenue flying time resulted in an unfavorable situation that would have been higher fixed costs and had to be spread out with less productive flying time.
