It has been demonstrated that exogenous 17-gastrin or a similar synthetic pentagastrin can accelerate the growth of murine colon cancer and significantly reduce the survival of the treated mice. In addition, gastric antral dissociation leads to an increase in the rate of growth of colon cancer induced by a carcinogen when the blood is in the state of high gastrin. The aim of this study was to determine if endogenous hypergastrinmia caused by pharmacological factors would affect the tumor growth and survival of a mouse model of colorectal cancer with gastrin receptor.
