In November 2011, the “Announcement on Gradually Prohibiting and Selling General Lighting Incandescent Lamps” jointly issued by five ministries, including the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce, stipulated: Since October 1st this year, the nation’s ban on imports and sales of general lighting of 100 watts and above Incandescent lamp. On October 1, 2014, the import and sale of incandescent lamps with general lighting of 60 watts or above is prohibited. On October 1, 2016, the import and sale of incandescent lamps of 15 watts or more are prohibited. This means that ordinary incandescent lamps of 100 watts and above will end their lives on October 1 this year and completely withdraw from the stage of history. In fact, incandescent lamps are the least efficient of all electric lighting fixtures. When used, only 5% of the electric energy is used for lighting, and the remaining 95% are all consumed by heat. The service life is usually not more than 1000 hours.
