This study investigated the effects of Topic Familiarity and Text Type on Non-English Majors’Listening Comprehension(LC).The participants consisted of 102 students enrolled in college English class(51 students are selected from mathematics department and the others are from chinese literature department).The data obtained from two tests and a background questionnaire which are analyzed by using SPSS.The results indicated that topic familiarity produces a greater main effect on the LC of the subjects.Text type,however,produces no significant effect.
