陳鶴琴先生從事教育工作三十年,對於我國教育工作者,特別是小學和幼稚教育工作者,是有了相當廣泛的影響的。尤其是由於陳先生所提倡和推行的教育,一向掛着進步的招牌,迷惑着不少人,在今天對於他的教育思想和實践進行檢討和批評,是十分必要的。正如柳湜同志所說:‘對“活教育”思想批評,不應限於它的言論,而是把重點放在它的實践上;並且要全面地具體地結合着陳先生數十年的教育活動,才不使這批評工作限於片面性’。在‘人民教育’和‘新教育’上已經發表了好幾篇批評‘活教育’的文章,特別是余之介同志和張文郁同志對於陳先生三十年來的教育實踐,作了此较全面的介紹。從這些材料中,我們應該可以肯定:‘活教育’所代表的不是什麽進步的教育思

From these materials, we should be able to affirm that ’living education’ does not represent any progressive educational thinking
