陈之佛先生(1896—1962)是20世纪最具代表性的中国传统工笔花鸟画家和工艺美术教育奠基人之一。他又名陈绍本、陈杰、号雪翁,1896年出生于浙江省余姚县(今余姚市)。他自幼开始习画,同时亦酷爱文学。17岁考入浙江工业学校机纺科学习染织图案,22岁成为我国第一个考取赴东瀛学习工艺美术的留学生,于东京美术学校师从日本工艺图案设计大师岛田佳英,并有作品在日参展、获奖。1942年回国后,他相继在东方艺专、上海艺大、广州美校任教,1930年应著名书画家刘海粟先生之邀赴任
Mr. Chen Zhifu (1896-1962) is one of the most representative traditional Chinese painters and painters and the founder of arts and crafts education in the 20th century.
