Nie Zhenzhao and Liang Xiaoping once published tit-for-tat views on the value of literary classics. Nie believes that the value of literary classics lies in the value of ethics. Aestheticism is only a form or means of realizing its ethical values. In Liang’s view, the core value of literary classics is aesthetic value, advocating breaking the shackles of ethics and morality in literary classics. There are many problems in the argument process of both languages and the conclusion is worth discussing. The value of the classic is not ethics or aesthetic, but rather reflects the universal humanity, reveals the true meaning of life. For reasons of the classic formation, the classical “substantial creativity”, “richness of connotation”, “leapfrogging of time and space” and “infinity of influence” point to the human performance therein; The connotation of classics, the richness of human nature and the overtime of human nature are the true values of various forms of classics. At the same time, humanity can also communicate ethics and esthetics.
