Green food development was initiated in the early 1990s when the international community advocated the path of sustainable development and the living standards of the people in both urban and rural areas in China gradually improved. This is a systematic project that was initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and implemented in the country. The concept of green food is: following the principles of sustainable development, production according to specific production methods, and the use of non-polluting, safe, high-quality, nutritious foods certified by a special agency as a green food trademark. Green food standards include the environmental quality standards of production areas, standards during production and processing, product quality standards, packaging standards and related standards.
