同型半胱氨酸对血管内皮有毒性作用,可引起血管内皮细胞受损及影响凝血过程,通过损伤内皮功能致动脉粥样硬化,进而引发脑血管疾病。叶酸是同型半胱氨酸再甲基化重新生成蛋氨酸代谢过程中的重要辅助因子,不仅能降低人体中同型半胱氨酸的含量水平,还能拮抗同型半胱氨酸的毒性作用。补充叶酸并联合VitB6和VitB12等能降低血浆中同型半胱氨酸的浓度水平,减少脑血管疾病的发生和发展。
