楹联最本质的特征是对仗,没有对仗就谈不上对联。从这个意义上说,楹联是一种对仗艺术或对称艺术。楹联受到了古代格律诗、骈文、词曲、散文甚至八股文中某些生动技法的影响,经过逐步发展完善,才形成一种独特而成熟的对仗艺术。所谓楹联的对仗,就是上下联语言的对偶。以一副对联为例:除去祖龙苛,闿泽万家歌武始;评量功狗当,高名一代属文终。这是晚明兵部尚书倪元璐题浙江绍兴
