This article examines the acceptance of Thucydides during the renaissance of classical Greece (1790-1830). During this period, Thucydides, a Greek intellectual, was considered as a true historian, and his work was an example of objectivity, rationality and critical historiography. In addition to discussing the history style, scholars also devoted their thoughts on the history and national identity of the nation during the process of interpreting Thucydides’ works. However, all these Greek scholars have a distinctive Western European imprint on the study of Thucydides, which reflects the revival of classical Greece in modern Greece, including the re-reading of Thucydides, The result of colonization.
