苏联国家标准ΓОС22602—77规定要研制和使用功率等级为4000～6000马力的新型干线内燃机车。这些单节4000～6000马力内燃机车的轴重将加大到25吨,要采用:架托式牵引电动机、车体两系悬挂装置、1250毫米直径的车轮、新的四冲程柴油机、交直流电力传动装置、承载式车体、电阻制动、电机集中送风系统、电子控制和诊断系统。伏罗希洛夫机车厂制造的、目前正在作调整试验的单节4000马力2ТЭ121型内燃机车,就是这些新型机车中的一种。
The Soviet national standard ΓОС22602-77 provides for the development and use of new grade diesel locomotive with a power rating of 4,000 to 6,000 horsepower. These single 4000 ~ 6000 horsepower diesel locomotive axle load will be increased to 25 tons, to be used: Tray traction motor, body two suspension system, 1250 mm diameter wheels, the new four-stroke diesel engine, AC and DC power Transmission, load-bearing body, resistance braking, motor centralized air supply system, electronic control and diagnostic system.
