The original hidden fragment in some molecules may be the binding site for some bacterial adhesins. These hidden fragments are called hidden receptors (Cryptitopes, Greek kryptos meaning hidden, topo means place). They have the obvious function of acting as bacterial receptors. This article summarizes the observation data in this area, suggesting that these hidden receptors play an important role in the adhesion of bacteria to the oral surface.Materials and Methods Bacteria were cultured with ~ 3H broth for adhesion studies. 5 mg of spherical hydroxyapatite beads were exposed to 125 μl of human jaw saliva, fractions of saliva separated by column chromatography, and pure salivary protein to form
