People born in winter are more likely to develop schizophrenia later in life. This conclusion is quite certain. It has been confirmed by a large number of censuses and surveys conducted by countries in the south, north and tropics. Some people think that the prevalence of winter virus infection may be the cause of some schizophrenia. People who are born in winter and urban areas and have hereditary predisposition may often suffer from central nervous system damage due to infection during or after birth, resulting in later psychological damage, including schizophrenia. The highest incidence of schizophrenia in urban high-risk populations born in winter was 21% and the basal high-risk rate was 9%. In 1974, Videbech et al. Confirmed that among people born in winter, the increase in schizophrenia parallels the increase in the number of stillbirths in winter in the general population, which they believe is due to increased winter pregnancy and neonatal complications
