Foucault’s exploration of “What is a device? ” Is a clues of continuity in his ideological system of intellectual archeology, power spectrum and self-technology, as well as his criticism in non-philosophical fields such as literature and art Methodology. This article focuses on Foucault’s interpretation of Margaret’s “This is Not a Pipe” series of paintings. The archeological criticism of “installation” has profound ethical-philosophical implications on the one hand, and on the other hand, It is possible for art history to see that the evolution of modern art structure is not a general evolution of a closed dual structure but a process of the topology of knowledge, power and subjectivity.
