He has the reputation of “the king of science fiction” and is one of the most recognized writers in contemporary England. His most famous novels include the controversial “Crash” and autobiographical novel “The Sun Empire.” The Atrocity Exhibition is composed of intense fantasies and is described by Ballard as a “condensed novel” and his only novel that fails to make a movie, due to the bizarre creation of Ballard. This article attempts to analyze the “fragmentation” technique of this work from the two major aspects of surrealistic expression and intertextuality, in the hope of exploring the charm of the text itself.
