双金属(包括多金属)是指两种或两种以上的金属(即基体金属和复层金属)在整个接触表面上,相互牢固地结合在一起的一种复合材料。双金属按其用途可以分为:热双金属、触头双金属、轴瓦双金属、音叉双金属、耐蚀双金属等。双金属不但可以制成管子、棒料、线材、板材和带材,而且可以制成各种元件(见图1),是国民经济中一种重要的金属材料。热双金属是利用基体金属和复层金属之间热膨胀系数不同,且随温度变化,从而使组元材料的热膨胀差所产生的弯曲亦随之变化这一特性,实现温度指示、温度控制、程序控制和温度补偿等目的。由于热双金属元件简单、价格便宜、使用可靠及维修方便,
