铁单5号玉米是我所于1970年用自交系“铁84”为母本1330为父本配制的单交种。1973、1974两年在本地区多点试验,比吉双4号平均增产14.8％、19.5％。1976年多点试验,比丹玉6号平均增产13.2％。到1976年已发展到10万亩。1975年昌图县曲家公社孟家大队清种150亩,平均亩产1.230斤。1976年开原县靠山大队种1,000亩,平均亩产超千斤。
