60年前吉尔吉斯斯坦的萨帕尔别克·卡斯马姆别托夫因演唱英雄史诗《玛纳斯》而名声鹊起,但其唱本一直未能出版。悉尼大学音乐教授基斯·霍华德于2006年录制了他的演唱,并翻译成英文,终于让读者一睹这个被尘封了几十年的史诗唱本。论文简介萨帕尔别克唱本,并选择有关英雄主人公玛纳斯的诞生、成婚与远征等章节内容与我国著名玛纳斯奇居素普·玛玛依唱本相关故事情节进行比较,以揭示两个唱本之间的差异,以期对“活态”史诗《玛纳斯》的变体现象有更深入的认识。
