姚鼐作为桐城派的集大成者,系统明确的提出阳刚阴柔之说,这一理论的形成发展有着深厚的历史源流。与西方美学中的壮美、优美的概念相比较,它们有相通之处但并不相同。值得注意的是,正是由于深厚的中国传统思想文化的影响,一方面,姚鼐等中国古代文人在理论上多崇尚阳刚之美;另一方面,他们在实际创作中却更多地偏向阴柔。
As a master of the Tongcheng School, Yao Kui explicitly put forward his theory of masculinity. The formation and development of this theory has a profound historical origins. Compared with the magnificent and graceful concepts in Western aesthetics, they have similarities but not the same. It is worth noting that it is precisely because of the profound influence of traditional Chinese ideology and culture. On the one hand, ancient Chinese scholars like Yao Yao advocated the beauty of masculinity in theory; on the other hand, they tend to be more feminine in actual writing.
